Let’s get fiscal! The challenge is completed!

A great BIG THANK YOU to everyone who supported us in our epic 40 mile midnight trek at the weekend. We are all a little worse for wear, some nasty blisters and extreme fatigue, but the important thing is that we made it over the line as a team.

As one of the 39 PLOD (40 miles) or PLOD Lite (20 miles) teams starting at midnight we set off with a great pace and steamed through the first checkpoint. Followed by a slight deviation from the route leading us to miss the second checkpoint (by only a few yards) and the loss of 60 points!! We powered on through with little water and a lot of determination to be the third team to reach breakfast. Fueled with bacon and sausage and some vital driver support we set off and motored through the majority of the walk with blisters forming, fatigue setting in and the sun beating down.

On reaching the seven sisters we were overwhelmed with the thought of 7 cliffs to scale followed by a few hills but we dug deep, inspired by the thought it was almost over! Around 3pm fizz and the finish line greeted us on the other side and the knowledge of a job well done.

A special thank you goes to the support side of our team, we really couldn’t have done it without you, always a welcome sight when we reached a checkpoint and you did an awesome job of looking after us. Particular thanks to the support drivers who embraced their overnight shift and were superb.

So the result, there were points on the day for completion of a quiz, crossing checkpoints and for the finish line. After walking for 15 hours and burning 4,300 calories the team came in a respectable 15th, had we not missed the checkpoint we would have come 5th overall, I am sure you will agree an awesome achievement.

Thanks again for all your support and helping us to raise in excess of £1,500 to fund medical research which helps sick babies and children.
