What does a trainee do at Lewis Brownlee?

Being an accountant is more than just providing a regulatory compliance service. We endeavour to support our clients so that they can spend their time doing what they enjoy most. Working within a medium sized practice, you will get exposure to a variety of clients that work in numerous industries. This is accompanied by working alongside specialists in accountancy, audit, taxation and financial advisory.
Some of your day to day duties would include:  Bookkeeping; VAT return preparations; Statutory accounts preparation for Sole Traders, Partnerships & Limited companies and Corporation tax return preparation, Preparation of management accounts; Audit; Preparation of returns to HMRC to report taxable benefits; Preparation of personal tax returns.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for individuals who have a keen interest in accounting and finance with the drive to learn whilst working in a career focused role.  If you’re looking to join us as a trainee then no experience is needed as we provide full training and support – Although any practical experience you do have is great!
Strong candidates will have the following skills: Ability to work individually and as part of a team; Strong mental arithmetic; Good verbal & written communication skills; Ability to prioritise workload in order to meet internal and external deadlines; Computer literate.

The most important characteristic we look for is the desire to learn and develop.
