Making Tax Digital Seminar

24th May 2018

Making Tax Digital is not optional!

From 1 April 2019, VAT registered businesses with turnover above the VAT threshold (£85,000 from 1 April 2018) must keep digital records, (excel spreadsheets on their own will not be enough!), and they will be required to make quarterly submissions of this digital data to HMRC for VAT purposes. This requirement is expected, perhaps as soon as a year later, to be extended to all other businesses meaning information relevant to their Corporation Tax, Income Tax and National Insurance obligations will have to be kept digitally!

Ultimately, it is planned to replace the annual tax return with a digital tax account where all your information will be stored in one place. For most, going digital will not be optional; you will no longer be able to keep your information on any desktop or manual system, it must be processed through an online accounting package, which is where we’d like to help!

We know that making the leap to online accounting isn’t always easy, but it is an unavoidable change that businesses will have to make. Do not make this more difficult by leaving it to the last minute! We are holding a seminar where we will discuss these changes and what they mean for you. This presents a fantastic opportunity in particular for VAT registered businesses to learn what needs to be done by April 2019, and for everyone else to understand how Making Tax Digital is likely to impact upon their affairs.

Our Tax Director Tom Foster will be speaking alongside our Managing Director Sarah Alexander who has many years of experience working with different accounting packages; we hope to be able to help you to make the transition as easy as possible.

We have two dates for our Making  Tax Digital Seminar:

  • Tuesday 26 June at Cowdray Golf Club, Cowdray Park, Midhurst, GU29 0AQ
  • Thursday 5 July at Chichester Yacht Club, Chichester Marina, Birdham, Chichester, PO20 7EJ

Doors open from 8.30am with the seminar to run from 9.00am to 10.30am approximately. Tea, Coffee and Pastries are available throughout. You will have the opportunity after the seminar to ask questions, speak to us and chat with other guests.

We very much hope you can join us, and please feel free to pass the details of this event to any friends, family or colleagues that this may be of interest to and we hope to see you soon!
